In April of 2019, I found myself at my heaviest weight ever at 173.5. My cholesterol was off the charts and I have a family history of heart disease. I didn't want to accept that getting older meant I was going to just be out of shape for the rest of my life and have failing health. I was turning 55 but in my brain, I still felt 18! I told my husband that for my birthday I wanted my body back, the one I had in my 20's. Later that day I had gone to yoga and overheard one of the girls talking to Tanya about fitness training. I recently completed Fit Appeal Training's 12-week weight training program and I loved it. I knew that I needed to add another element to my fitness regime and this was really it. Tanya utilizes an app for the training so every workout day I would receive reminders and prompts from the app - and sometimes a separate one from Tanya! The app is great and has all the information you need for each day, including videos and rest times between reps. It is very straightforward and easy to use. The videos are great and help ensure correct form. I thought I was active but honestly, I am surprised at how strong I feel after only 12 weeks - not only do I feel stronger, but I can also see a physical difference, hello tricep muscles!
I also really enjoyed the workouts - they are never boring with the way Tanya organizes them. I also used Tanya's nutrition plan, which I highly recommend. I honestly feel this made a greater impact on my progress because I really learned that I just was not fueling my body correctly. The nutrition plan worked alongside my daily activity levels and had everything I needed including recipes. This is a great intro to weights and correct nutrition and I feel much stronger and better physically (amazing what the correct diet will do) that I have decided to start training for a marathon! This program really shows that you do not need a gym membership to do weight training!
